Season 6 is the sixth season of the popular British dating reality TV show, hosted by Laura Whitmore and premiering January 12th, 2020.

On February 23rd, 2020, Finley Tapp and Paige Turley were declared the winners of the season and of the £50,000 with Luke Trotman and Siannise Fudge finishing as the runners-up

Production

It was initially reported on June 17th,2019 that the show's producers were planning to do a winter edition of the Love Island format, with it airing in early 2020. This was later confirmed on July 26th,2019 where ITV2 confirmed that it would be airing 2 seasons a year from 2020, after the success of the 2019 season. The first of those 2 was confirmed to be the first winter season.

On July 28th, 2019 it was reported that Caroline Flack would be returning to host the show, after having signed a new contract for 2020. Iain Stirling also later confirmed his involvement during an interview with Good-Morning Britain's Richard Arnold.

In October,2019 the launch date for this season was leaked, being revealed to be launching between January 6th-8th,2020, with the production staff arriving a week in advance on January 1st of the same year in order to prepare the new South African villa for the season. However this was later proven false on December 19th, 2019 when it was revealed that it'd be launching on January 12th,2020.

At the same time, it was also revealed that this season would have a shortened length of six weeks, instead of the normal 8 weeks that the previous 2 seasons had.

On December 17th,2019 Caroline announced that she'd be leaving the role of presenter for this season, after allegations of sexual assault against her boyfriend arose on December 13th. On December 20th,2019 it was announced that former SOTF hostess & Iain's girlfriend; Laura Whitmore was taking over as Caroline's replacement.

Casting

The auditions for this season were opened July 29th,2019; the day of the 2019 finale and are set to close November 30th,2019. Potential islanders have been asked to once again send in audition tapes.It was also noted in the application form, that applicants would need to be available for a minimum of 8 weeks after rumours of a shorter season popped up just after the announcement of the season.

In August 2019, it was reported that the production team were looking for specific types of islander's such as a pair of twins and a goth girl.

Villa

During the reveal on July 26th, 2019 it was revealed that the villa for this winter season would not be situated in the normal location of Majorca, Spain, but would instead move to another luxury villa in South Africa.

On December 6th 2019, the first images of the villa were released, revealing it to be a lot larger than the normal villa in Majorca. The first official images were later released on January 9th,2020 3 days before the season began. The new villa also featured a brand new feature, called the "Dog-House".

The initial line-up of islanders were revealed on January 6th,2020, just a week from the launch of the season on January 12th. A pair of twin islanders are also included in the initial line-up for the first time. More islanders will enter the villa later in the season.

	Couplings	Day 1: After the girls entered on Day 1, they lined up and met each of the boys one by one, with the boys being able to couple with a girl of their choice. The couplings were as such: Nas & Siannise, Callum & Shaughna, Connor & Sophie, Ollie & Paige, Mike & Leanne. Day 2:Bombshells; Eve & Jess were tasked with stealing 2 of the boys to couple up with. Eve chose Callum and Jess chose Mike. Day 6: First Re-coupling (Boys Choice)- Finn & Paige, Connagh & Sophie, Mike & Leanne, Callum & Shaughna, Connor & Sianisse, Nas & Jess (Re-coupled).
	Challenges	Day 2:Spill the Tea-In this challenge, the boys were pitted against the girls in a game where each member of the 2 two teams had to sit on seat atop a giant tea-cup and get dunked in, in an attempt to try and find a statement. They then had to kiss the islander of the opposite sex, they thought it correlated to. If right they scored a point. In the end the Girls won. Day 6:Booty Camp-The girls take part in an obstacle, dressed in army kaki. Once each of the girls had completed the obstacle course, the boys would determine which of the girls looked the sexiest while doing the course. In the end they declared Siannise as the winner. Day 7:Knowing me, knowing You-Each of the couples took part in a quiz where members of each couple answered questions that about their partner. Each member of the couple would have to match each other's answer to score a point. In the end Paige and Finn were declared the winners.

	Challenges	Day 9:Dirty Dancers-The boys are pitted against the girls, with each team vying to try and raise the heartbeats of the opposing team's members. To do this, they'd perform sexy-dancers while wearing costumes to try and woo their rivals. The team that gets their rivals heartbeats the highest. would be the winners. Day 12:Lads Vegas- The took part in a challenge where they each dressed up as Elvis and had to complete a Las-Vegas themed obstacle course, wedding their partner at the end of it. The girls would then decide who was the winner, based on who performed in the sexiest way. In the end the girls chose Finley as the winner.

	Challenges	Day 16:Get Trollied-In this challenge, the couples were tasked with carrying groceries from one side of the challenge area to the other, through the use of only their mouths and while sitting in shopping trollies. The couple that managed to get the most of their groceries across, would be the winners. In the end Callum & Shaughna were declared the winners. Day 19:Speedy Positions-In this challenge, the couples were tasked with performing various different sex positions, with the first couple to perform each, scoring a point. The couple with the most points in the end, would be the winners. In the end Nas & Demi, were declared the winners. Day 20:Oktobersesh-The couples dressed up in girdles and lederhosen, in order to take part in a Bavarian-themed 3 round challenge. The challenge was eventually won by Paige & Finn.

	Challenges	Day 22:Kiss, Marry, Pie-In this challenge, the islanders had to snog an islander they liked, marry another by putting a ring on their finger and then pie-ing an islander they didn't like, by smashing a pie in their face. Day 23:Cocktail Mix-up-The 2 villas; Casa Amor and the Main Villa went up against each other in a challenge, where they had to carry 4 different cocktails from one side to the other through the use of only their mouth. The winners would be the team that completed it first. Day 24:Raunchy Race-In this challenge Casa Amor & the Main Villa, once again competed against each other and in this challenge they were tasked with completing several saucy challenges. The villa that completed it first, would score a point. The winners at the end would be the team with the most points. In the end the Main Villa were declared the winners.

	Challenges	Day 30:Girl Racers-In this challenge each of the girls had to dress as race-car drivers and be blindfolded. The boys would then have to guide their partner around a race track in a go-cart, while making their way through various articles. The winners would be those, who managed to complete it in the quickest time. In the end Finley & Paige were declared the winners. Day 31:Rumpy Pumpy- The islanders split into 2 teams and had to have a member from each of the teams attempt to blow up a balloon the quickest. The team that managed to pop or blow the balloon up first, would have to answer a question. If they got it right they scored a point, if not the opposite team could answer. The team with the most points at the end won. In the end it was the blue team that won. Day 32:News Splash- The islanders were split into 2 teams based off of gender and had one member from each team sitting on a dunking board. They'd then have to try and guess which islander/s a news headline was referring to. If they got it wrong they'd be dunked into the tank, but if they got it right they'd score a point. The eventual winners were the girls. Day 34:Valentine's Bae- In this challenge the couples were tasked with carrying a romantic meal for 2 over an obstacle course. If they were able to do so successfully, they'd have to place it on a table and snog. If spilt the whole dish, they'd be eliminated. The eventual winners were Demi & Luke M.

Week 6	Challenges	Day 35:Couple Goals-Each of the couples had to place one of their fellow couples into a variety of categories, with them each aiming to try and get the least points. The couple that managed to do so would be the winners. The challenge in the end, was won by Ched & Jess. Day 38:Parenting Challenge-The couples were tasked with looking after toy-babies for the day. If the islanders were able to pass the test, with at least half of the couples, they'd win a party. In the end, Mike & Priscilla won the challenge, with Callum & Molly, Finn & Paige and Luke M & Demi also passing, while Luke T & Siannise, Jess & Ched and Jamie & Natalia failed. Thanks to this they won the party.
