Season 6 (Australia)

Season 6 is the sixth season of the Australian Love Island, hosted by Sophie Monk and premiering October 28th,2024 on Channel 9.

Production[]

The sixth season of the Australian Love Island was confirmed to be in production on April 4th,2024 when the producers opened applications for potential islanders.^[1]

Later on September 23rd,2024 it was reported that Sophie Monk was potentially going to be replaced as the host for this season, with Big Brother AU star: Skye Wheatley tipped to take-over the position.^[2] Despite this however it was later confirmed by Channel 9 on September 30th that Monk would be returning for the sixth season.^[3]

The first promotional material for the season was first released on October 3rd,2024 revealing new footage of the season, as well as teasing a brand new twist in "Hotel Amor". Upon that this would be a twist on Casa Amor and would feature islanders swapping partners for a night in a hotel room with no cameras watching. At the time it was stated that this was done to help keep viewers guessing as to what was real and what wasn't.^[4]

On October 9th,2024 it was announced that the sixth season would be premiering on October 28th,2024.^[5]

Casting[]

Applications for the sixth season were opened on April 4th,2024 with producers looking for young and attractive singles between the ages of 19 & 35 from Australia to take part. Producers would also look to scout potential islanders through social media, by asking followers to put forward names in the comments.^[6]

Applications would later close in late June 2024, with filming for the new season then taking place over the summer.

Villa[]

For this season, the show would be based out of the villa used in the previous two seasons based in Majorca, Spain. The villa was later revealed in full on 27th October, 2024 just a day before the season began.^[7]

Islanders[]

The initial line-up of islanders for the season were revealed on October 10th,2024, featuring 5 boys and 5 girls. At the same time, the first two bombshells of the season were revealed alongside the edition of international all-star islanders; Sydney & Stephane who would act as "Love Island Gods".^[8]

Week Summary[]

	Couplings	Day 1: After each of the girls entered the villa, they were introduced to the boys and were given the chance to choose two to snog. After this the boys lined-up and the girls were then tasked with standing behind the boy they wanted to couple up with. If a boy had more than one girl standing behind him, the choice would revert to them. The final couplings were as such: Eilisha & Dylan, Em & Indigo, Hannah & Niko, Mimi & Zane, Xanthe & Kane. Day 2: Bombshell: Taylor was told that that evening he would get to choose a girl to couple up with and leave one of the other guys single and dumped. That evening Taylor made the decision to couple up with Eilisha, leaving Dylan single. Day 3:After being made single, Dylan was given till the morning to convince one of the other four girls to couple up with. In the morning Mimi made the decision to re-couple with him, leaving Zane vulnerable. As Xanthe made the decision to re-couple with Zane, he was able to remain in the villa and Kane was left single and dumped. Day 5: First re-coupling (Boys/bombshell's choice)-Zane & Xanthe, Dylan & Mimi, Niko & Hannah (Stayed together). Taylor & Em, Sophie & Indigo (Re-coupled). Day 6: "Love Island Gods"; Steph and Sydney were given the power to couple up whenever they wanted. Later that evening, Steph chose to couple up with Sophie, leaving Indigo single. However he then changed his mind and later re-coupled with Mimi, allowing Indigo & Sophie to get back together. At the same Sydney also also made the decision to couple up with Zane, leaving Xanthe single. Day 7: Sydney made the decision to be single and as such allowed Zane & Xanthe to get back together.
	Challenges	Day 4:Shake it Like a Polaroid Picture-In this challenge the boys were pitted against the girls, where they had to perform a sexy pose with an assortment of props. After this they'd need to press a big red button on the giant camera and produce a polaroid. This polaroid would feature a statement correlating to an islander of the opposite sex. To make their guess, the player would have to choose one islander of the opposite sex to snog in the photo frame, before the correct answer was revealed on the picture line. If they got it correct. they'd score a point for their team, with the team that had the most points being declared the winners. In the end it was the boys that won.

Day 10: Bombshells: Kaylah and Krissy were given the opportunity to choose a boy to couple up with. As such Kaylah chose to couple up with Zane and Krissy chose Dylan. This meant that Xanthe & Sophie were left single and vulnerable. After going on dates with the two single girls, bombshell: Mercedes made the decision to couple up with Sophie.
