Season 4 (Belgium)

Season 4 is the fourth season of the Dutch Love Island, hosted by Holly Mae Brood & Viktor Verhulst and premiering August 21st,2023 on Videoland.

Production[]

The fourth season of the show was confirmed to be in production on January 27th,2023 alongside the announcement of the show's valentines day reunion special.^[1]

On 18th July,2023 it was announced that the new season would be premiering on August 21st, as well as also confirming that Holly and Viktor would be returning as the hosts for the season.^[2]

Later on July 25th,2023 it was announced that Dutch fashion brand; Loavies would be the new sponsor for the then upcoming season. At the time it was stated that this move was made in order to influence young fashion-minded individuals to get involved in second-hand fashion, with the brand providing the villa with second-hand clothing for the islanders.^[3]

Casting[]

Registration for the applications was opened for potential islanders upon the announcement of the season on January 27th,2023. Auditions would later be opened on June 2nd,2023 with a promotional campaign advertised throughout their social media channels.^[4] As usual the producers were looking for young and attractive boys and girls to take part by signing up through the show's page on Videoland.nl.

Villa[]

On June 2nd,2023 it was revealed that the fourth season would no longer be airing from the show's usual villa in Gran Canaria, but would instead be airing from a new villa, located on an exotic island. The exact location of the villa, as of August 2023 is unknown, however on August 20th,2023 a first look at the new villa was revealed through the show's social media.^[5]

Islanders[]

The initial line-up of islanders were officially revealed in full on August 14th,2023, comprised of 5 boys and 6 girls. More islanders would enter the villa later as bombshells.

	Couplings	Day 1:After each of the girls had entered the villa, they each lined-up and the boys were each introduced one by one. The girls could then step forward for the boy/s they were interested in, with the ultimate choice being down to the boy. The final couplings were as such: Jonna & Garbi, Imad & Lena, Kengi & Nycole, Kluuk & Naomi, Thymo & Vanity. Day 2: On Day 1, bombshell; Kimmy was told that during the next day she would be able to steal a boy of her choice to couple up with. On Day 2, Kimmy made the decision to couple up with Kengi, leaving Nycole single. Day 5: First re-coupling (Girls choice)-Kimmy & Kengi, Naomi & Kluuk, Lena & Imad (Stayed together). Garbi & Thijn, Vanity & Zoran, Nycole & Jonna (Re-coupled).
	Challenges	Day 3:Red Flags-For this challenge the boys were pitted against the girls in a Bay-watch themed challenge where members of each team took a buoy at random and then read a statement correlating to an islander on the opposite team. The reader would then need to jump into a pool and wrestle with an inflatable shark-toy before slow-mo walking down the path while getting sprayed with water. Finally they would need to plant a snog on the islander they thought the statement correlated to. If they got it right they'd score a point and the team with the most points at the end would be the winners. Day 5:Cocktail Shakeup-For this challenge, each of the couples were tasked with trying to fill up a large glass with cocktail mix. To do this the boys and girls would take it in turns to a wear a helmet with a set of wine-glasses attached to it, with their partner then attempting to fill those glasses by throwing liquid at them. The wearer would then need to transfer that liquid to the larger glass and the couple whose glass the fullest at the end, would be declared the winners.

	Couplings	Day 8:During the evening, bombshell; Job was told that he would be able to choose a girl to couple up with and as such he chose to couple up with Naomi, therefore meaning Kluuk was left single. Day 12: Second re-coupling (Boys choice) - Kengi & Kimmy, Imad & Lena, Jonna & Nycole, Job & Naomi (Stayed together). Kevin & GarbI, Thijn & Amandine (Re-coupled).
	Challenges	Day 11:She's a Keeper-For this challenge, each of the girls joined the Love Island football club and took part in a football-themed course. To begin with they'd need to dribble a ball round some cones and then give the red card to a boy of their choice. After doing this, the player would need to slide down the pitch into the goal and then attempt to try and block the boys attempts at scoring a goal. To finish off they'd need to choose a boy to name their star player and snog them. Ultimately the winner would be determined by the boys based on who put on the sexiest performance. In the end Gala was declared the winner.
