Season 2 is the second season of the British Reality dating show; Love Island (2015), hosted by Caroline Flack. The second season premiered on ITV2, May 30th,2016 and ended on July 11th,2016, with Iain Stirling narrating. This is the first season to feature both a removal and voluntary exits from the Islanders.
On July 11th,2016, the season was won by Cara & Nathan, with Alex and Olivia finishing as the runners-up.
Production[]
The season was announced to be on the way on February 14th, 2016 (valentines day), with the series later being confirmed to be premiering at the end of May,2016. The live eliminations however were scrapped for this season.
Casting[]
Like the previous season, this season starred sexy singular civilian men and women, with the producers requiring, the applicants to send in an audition tape, so they could determine who appears in the new season. The auditions opened on February 14th,2016.
Villa[]
The first images of the villa were revealed on 28th,May 2016, confirming that the villa was still located in Majorca, Spain. The villa featured the same basic layout from the previous season, with a bedroom for the couples, a lounge, poo, decking area, glam room and bathroom.
However there were a few aesthetics that were changed for the new season, such as the cupid-based artwork in the arches above the Islanders beds, coloured in orange, blue and light green. The villa also featured an outside gym this time round and a new look hide-away.
Islanders[]
The full starting line-up for the season was revealed 24th, May 2016 a week before the launch of the season. More islanders however would enter the villa over the course of the season. On July 11th,2016 Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey came out as the winners, with Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen finishing as runner-ups.
Coupling History[]
On Day 1, the first islanders to enter the villa were coupled up, with host; Caroline Flack, getting the girls to line-up in the pool, before she started introducing the male islanders to the girls. The girls would have to step forward for the boy they were attracted to, but the boy would be able to couple with the girl they chose. Throughout the season, there would be a number of re-coupling periods that would re-jig the couples. Islanders without a partner in this session, would be dumped from the island.
