Season 2 (Quebec)

Season 2 is the second season of the Franco-Canadian version of the popular competitive-dating show; Love Island, hosted by Naadei Lyonnais and premiering April 18th,2022 on Franco-Canadian channel; TVA.

Production[]

The second season of the show was confirmed to be in production on November 23rd,2021 when the show made posts through their social media pages, announcing that the new season would be arriving in 2022, trying to convince potential applicants to audition.^[1]

Both Naadei and Medhi were later confirmed to be returning to the show as the main presenter and narrator respectively, upon the reveal of the new villa on February 14th,2022 .^[2] On March 30th,2022 it was confirmed that the new season would be premiering April 18th,2022 through the show's social media accounts.^[3]

Casting[]

Applications for the new season were opened alongside the announcement of the new season on November 23rd, 2021, looking for young and attractive single boys and girls between the ages of 20 and 30 to take part. This was done through the show's social media accounts, where they directed potential islanders towards an application form that can be accessed through their site.

The application form in particular asks for that of a potential islander's personal details, an audition video, photos of themselves and social media details. All of this was later advertised through a post they made on their Instagram page on December 10th,2021.^[4] As of April 2022, the applications for the new season are still open.

Villa[]

For this season, the show will be airing from a new luxury villa located in the seaside town of Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic. This was revealed through the show's social media accounts on February 14th,2022 alongside the confirmation of the host's return to the show. This post also showed off a drone-shot of the villa.

Islanders[]

The show began to tease the initial line-up of islanders on 6th April, 2022 where they used their social media to partially introduce fans to the new male islanders, giving short descriptions of their personality, as well as their star-signs and ages. This was later followed by a full reveal of the first 4 male islanders.^[5] This was later followed by a reveal of 5 new female islanders on April 11th, completing the initial line-up. More islanders will enter the villa later in the season as bombshells.

It should be noted that there were originally going to be 5 boys to match the 5 girls in the initial line-up, however the islander known as Adam who was originally set to be a part of the initial cast caused a backlash from many girls on social media, who denounced Adam's behaviour as toxic and dangerous, with claims of harassment being made. This forced TVA to remove him from the cast.^[6]

	Couplings	Day 1: After each of the girls had entered, the boys came in one by one, with the girls being able to step forward if they were interested, before the boy then makes their decision. The final couples were as such- Kharl & Amelie, Renau & Naomi, Samuel & Nadia, Gabriel & Bianca, William & Rubie. Day 2: After arriving late into Day 1, bombshell Amanda was told that during the next day she'd be able to steal a boy of her choice to couple up with. On Day 2, Amanda chose to couple up with William leaving Rubie single. Day 4: First re-coupling (Girl's choice)-Amelie & Kharl, Amanda & William (Stayed together). Bianca & Samuel, Rubie & Jacob, Naomi & Gabriel (Re-coupled).
	Challenges	Day 3:The Secret suitcase-In this challenge the boys and girls were split into 2 teams based on gender, with each team having a conveyor belt where suitcases would come down. Each suitcase contained a statement/secret correlating to an islander of the opposite sex, with the given team-member having to then go and snog the islander who they thought it correlated to. If they got it correct, they scored a point for their team.

	Challenges	Day 6:Beer-pong Dares-For this challenge, the islanders all dressed up in American footballer and Cheerleader outfits and took it in turns to take a dare out of the box. To determine who they would do the dare with, the islander would then need to throw a ball into one of the cups in front of them, each of which were allocated to an islander of the opposite sex. The islander that it landed in, would be who they partner up with for the dare.

	Challenges	Day 13:Hot as Embers-For this challenge, each of the boys had to dress up as firemen and take part in an obstacle course, themed around the duties of a fireman. The girls would then determine the winner of the challenge, based on which of them pulled off the sexiest performance.
