Season 2 is the second season from the French version of Love Island, hosted by Delphine Wespiser and premiering April 24th,2023 on W9.
Production[]
On December 22nd,2022 it was confirmed by ITV studios that the French version of the show would be returning for a new season after 4 years off air. At the same time it was also confirmed that the show would be airing on French TV channel; W9 instead of the French Amazon Prime like the previous season.[1]
After months of speculation, it was confirmed on April 4th at a press event that French model and television; Delphine Wespiser would be assuming the role of hostess for the upcoming season. It was also confirmed there that the new season would be premiering April 24th,2023.[2]
For the first time in the Love Island franchise, it was announced on April 20th,2023 that this new season would give fans the ability to watch live footage of the islanders in the villa. To watch this footage, fans would be able to use W9's subsidiary streaming service; 6Play through their premium service between 16:00 to 18:00 and 22:00 to 00:00 in French time.[3]
Casting[]
Applications for the new season were opened 5 days after the initial announcement of the season on December 27th,2022. This was done through the show's social media pages, where they would be directed towards the 6Play website to sign up or recommend someone for the show by tagging them in the post.[4] Like with other seasons of the show, the producers were looking young and attractive boys and girls above the age of 18 to take part.
As of April, 2023 it should be noted that the applications for the season have been closed.
Villa[]
While the villa for the new season hasn't as of April been confirmed by the producers, it can be inclined that the villa the new season will be airing from will be the same villa that was utilized in the Spanish, Belgian and Italian versions of the show. This was something that was teased through promotional ads for the season.
Islanders[]
The initial line-up of islanders for the season, were first teased on April 14th through a teaser trailer that hid the identities of them through shadows. Through the show's social media accounts, they would post photos of the islanders with the LI heart covering their faces while providing a little information about each one. This was carried out across three days from April 17th,2023 to 19th April. On April 20th, the initial line-up of islanders were revealed in their entirety, featuring 5 boys and 5 girls. More islanders would enter the villa later as bombshells.
