Season 2 (America)

Season 2 is the second season of the American adaption of the popular British dating show; Love Island, hosted by Arielle Vandenberg and premiering August 24th,2020 on CBS.

The season concluded on September 30th,2020 after 5 weeks, with Caleb Corprew and Justine Ndiba being crowned the winners, alongside Cely & Johnny as the runners-up.

Production[]

The second season of the show was confirmed to be in production, in August 2019 by CBS, after the ratings from the then current season, proved high enough for a renewal of the show.^[1]

On February 14th,2020 it was announced that the season would be premiering on May 21st,2020; 2 months earlier than the previous season had on CBS.^[2] However thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic the season was removed from this slot in the schedule and is expected to air later in the summer.

Later on August 5th,2020 it was confirmed by CBS that the season would now be premiering on August 24th, 2020.^[3] On August 17th,2020 it was also confirmed that the season would be airing on ITV2 in the UK from September 2020-October.^[4]

Auditions[]

Auditions for this season opened as soon as the season was announced on August 7th,2019, looking for young and attractive boys and girls to take part. The auditions for the second season of the show are set to close on May 31st, 2020 just 10 days after the launch.^[5]

Villa[]

Unlike the previous season, the second season of the show will be taking place in the Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas, mainly in part thanks to the COVID-19 Crisis. Within this space, cast and crew would operate in small social bubbles to help ensure safety from the virus.^[6]

On August 20th,2020 it was confirmed that this'd be the first season of Love Island America to feature Casa Amor^[7]

Islanders[]

The initial cast of islanders, made up of six boys and five girls were officially revealed by CBS on August 17th,2020.^[8] More islanders will enter later in the season.

	Couplings	Day 1: After all of the girls had entered the villa, they were asked to line-up, with each of the boys coming in one after another. The girls had to step forward for the boy they were interested, but the boy would have the overall say. The couplings were as such; Carrington & Kaitlynn, Tre & Cely, Connor & Mackenzie, James & Moira, Jeremiah & Justine Day 2: After having arrived late on Day 1, bombshell; Johnny was told that he'd be able to steal one of the girls during the next day to re-couple with. On Day 2, Johnny chose to steal Cely, leaving Tre single. Day 5: First Re-coupling (Boys Choice)-Connor & Mackenzie, James & Moira, Johnny & Cely (Stayed together). Carrington & Kierstan, Jeremiah & Rachel, Tre & Justine (Re-coupled).
	Challenges	Day 3:Excess Baggage-In this challenge, the boys and girls were pitted against each other in a challenge where each of the teams to took it in turns to take down a suitcase from a conveyor belt and tear off the label, to find a statement correlating to an islander. They'd then have to kiss the islander they though it related to. If they got it right, they scored a point. In the end the girls were declared the winners.

	Challenges	Day 12:All Washed Up-In this challenge the girls were tasked with going through a car-wash themed obstacle course and had to try and look as sexy as possible, before kissing a male islander of their choice. The boys would then determine which girl put on the best performance with that girl then being declared the winner. In the end the winner was declared as Lauren.

	Challenges	Day 14:Smooch, Marry, Pie:In this challenge the boys and girls were divided with each taking it in turns to choose an islander of the opposite sex to kiss, one to slide a ring onto the finger of to marry and another to smash a pie into their face. Day 16:Tie the Knot- Day 18:Raunchy Races-This challenge pitted Casa Amor against the Main villa in a number of different raunchy tasks. The fastest villa to complete each task would earn a point for their team, with the winners winning a party. In the end it was the Main villa that won the game.

	Challenges	Day 29:Heart Race-In this challenge the boys were pitted against the girls, with each side having to try and raise their correlating partner's heart-rate the highest. The team that managed to raise the opposing team's members heart-rates the highest would be the winners. In the end it was a tie betweeen the 2 teams. Day 33:Men at Work-The boys were tasked with tackling an construction-worker themed obstacle course, where they had to complete it in the sexiest way possible, with the girls then deciding the winner, based on who was the sexiest. In the end Bennett was declared the winner.
