On Saturday, the programme will see perhaps the biggest surprise in its history to date, when the winner of the 2017 Fitness Model competition, Meri Turunen from Rovaniemi , haspreviously been titillated as the most wanted beauty in Lapland.
"Really good vibe, it's really nice to go to the villa, Meri re-enthuses his mood to Ilta-Sanomat a few days before arriving on Love Island.
Meri went public two years ago after winning the Fitness Model competition. The woman recently divorced her former cohabiting partner and has since enjoyed being single, although requests for a date for the blonde beauty have rained down. Now, however, Meri says he misses love in his life again.
"I really resigned just over six months ago. It was a good idea for me to go here now, the moment was right, Meri sheds light on his reasons for going on the show.
"I would love to find the right one now alongside this.
Meri does not set exact criteria for her future partner. However, a woman who works in sports dreams of being with a sporty man with whom she could also play sports together. Appearances, on the other hand, are not key.
"I dream of a smart man for whom family would be important," Meri describes the man of his dreams.
"But it always varies depending on the person. You can always decide in advance that this is my type, but then in the end the guy you love can be completely different," Meri laughs.
Meri reveals that she has had time to wink at a few men already in the wool. Reetu, a 25-year-old backpacker in particular, has attracted the woman's interest. Reetu's partner in love island wool is now blonde personal trainer Jenni.
"Reetu has said that he is an adventurer and spontaneous, but that side hasn't really shown up yet. It's a bit of a mystery that would be nice to unravel," Meri explains.[1]

Meri entered the villa on Day 13, as a late entrant. For Day 18's second re-coupling, Meri was coupled up with Joel. For the third re-coupling on Day 5, she decided to re-couple with Kasper. However the next day it was revealed that both she and Kasper had landed in the bottom 3 couples of a public vote and as their fellow islanders didn't vote to save them, they were dumped together in 15th place.
