Love Island Spain is the Spanish version of the popular reality-TV dating format; Love Island, hosted by Cristina Pedroche and premiering April 2021 on the Spanish television channel; Neox.
History[]
The Love Island format was first announced to be coming to Spain on September 23rd 2020, by both ITV Studios international and Spanish production company; Boomerang. This came after the success that the format had managed to garner worldwide and having been the host of 5 previous seasons of the original UK version of the show. In January 2021, it was announced that Spanish actress; Cristina Pedroche would be the host of the show.
The premiere date for the first season of the show, was announced on March 23rd,2021 via the release of a 12-second teaser trailer, where it was revealed that it would be premiering Sunday 11th, April 2021 on Neox.
Format[]
Like it's international counterparts, LI Spain involves a group of young and attractive boys and girls living in a luxurious villa and having to couple up with one another to stay in the competition. Throughout the course of a season, new islanders would enter the villa to test loyalties and frequent re-couplings spread out across the duration of the show, would allow islanders to get into a relationship with another islander, in the case they no longer felt anything for their current partner. If an islander were to be single at the end of one of these, they'd be dumped from the villa, in essence being eliminated from the competition.
Couples are also tasked with taking part in a variety of challenges, that will test both their merits as a couple and their general loyalties to one another. At the end of the season, the last couple remaining in the villa, would be declared the winners of the season and of the cash prize
