Love Island Romania is the Romanian version of the RTV dating show; Love Island, hosted by Alina Ceusan and first premiering on Romanian TV channel; ProTV in October 2023.
History[]
The Romanian version of the show, was one that was first announced on February 10th,2020 by both ITV Studios and Antena.[1] However it could be surmised that due to issues surrounding covid-19 at the time, this version of the show was cancelled.
Later on May 12th,2023 it was announced by Romanian TV channel; Pro TV that the series was being picked up for a season due to air in the fall of 2023, with it having been announced earlier in the year that it had gone into pre-production. At the time of the announcement, Antonii Mangov; the programming director at Pro TV commented that the show was going to fit perfectly into both Voyo and Pro TV's strategy of providing quality entertainment for their diverse range of viewers.[2]
On August 21st,2023 it was announced that beauty blogger/Youtuber; Alina Ceusan would be the presenter of the Romanian Love Island.[3] On September 15th,2023 it was confirmed that the first season of the show would be premiering on October 1st,2023.[4]
Format[]
For this version of the show, an array of young and attractive boys and girls have to live together in a luxurious villa located in Gran Canaria, Spain. In order to stay on the show, islanders would have to couple up with one another and would have a variety of different challenges/tasks put towards them, that would be designed to test their loyalties to each other. Throughout the show, new islanders would arrive in the form of bombshells and periodic re-couplings would give islanders the opportunity to swap out their partners if they felt like they had a better connection elsewhere.
In the end, the last remaining couple on the island, would be declared the winners of both the show and the cash prize.
