Love Island Germany is the German counterpart to the British Dating reality television show; Love Island, being produced by ITV studios for the German television channel RTLII and launched in 2017, with it's first season.

This version of the show, features a similar format to that of it's international counterparts, requiring young and attractive boys and girls to couple up with one another in order to stay in the Love Island villa, with the last remaining couple being declared the winners of the cash prize. Throughout their time in the villa, a number of new islanders would be introduced into the villa and various re-coupling ceremonies would take place, where the islanders would be given the chance to re-couple with someone else, if they weren't satisfied by their current partnership.
During their time in the villa, the islanders would be expected to live together, as well to take part in challenges/tasks that would help to test their loyalties to each other.
History[]
The first season of Love Island Germany, began airing on RTL II on September 11,2017. The season ran for a total of 19 episodes, finishing airing October 1st,2017. 3 more seasons would later air in 2018, 19 & 20 respectively. In October 2020, it was confirmed that from 2021, the show would start airing 2 seasons a year, with a fifth season airing in spring for the first time.[1]
