Love Island Belgium/Netherlands is the Flemish version of the popular British dating reality-TV dating show; Love Island, which premiered during the summer of 2019 and hosted by Viktor Verhulst & Holly Mae Brood for Season 1 and Monica Geuze for Season 2. The show airs on the Belgium TV channel; SBS and is produced by ITV Studios.

The first season premiered May 30th,2019 and lasted a total of 6 weeks, concluding July 22nd,2019. The first Netherlands exclusive season would later premier on Videoland September 23rd,2019.

Format[]

Like it's sister versions across the glob, this version of Love Island features a roster of young and attractive boys and girls having to try and couple up together in order to stay on the island. Throughout a season, new islanders would the villa, therefore testing the islanders loyalties to their partners. There would also be a number of various re-coupling ceremonies, where they could either choose to dump their current partner, for a new one or stick with their current partner. If an islander is left single here, they would get dumped from the island.

The islanders would be tasked with a variety of different challenges/tasks throughout the course of the season, designed to test loyalties and would be expected to live with one another in the Love Island villa for the show 's duration. At the end of the season, the last couple left standing would win the cash prize.


History[]

Love Island Belgium was first announced on January 18th,2019 being produced by ITV Studios for SBS in Belgium and for RTL in the Netherlands and it was revealed that the first season would feature a variety of islanders, from both countries taking part.

It was confirmed in March, 2019 that the hosts of Love Island Belgium were; actress/model Holly Brood and Belgian presenter; Viktor Verhulst. Later in April 2019, it was revealed that the start date for the first season was May 27th,2019 alongside the first teasers for the show.

The first season premiered on May 27th,2019 and lasted for 6 weeks, before coming to a conclusion on July 22nd,2019 with Aleksandra Jakobcyzk and partner; Denzel Slager being declared the winners of the first season.

A Netherlands exclusive season would air later in the year on their streaming service; Videoland, however this would be the final season. This season was hosted by Monica Geuze. On May 1st,2021 it was announced by VideoLand that the show was being revived for a second season, with LI Belgium host; Holly Mae Brood being the presenter and airing from May 24th,2021.
